APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Discern with your parish priest if you are called to be catechist
  2. Complete an ACTS application
  3. Complete a Live Scan
  4. Submit a Clergy Recommendation Form
  5. Pay your Tuition

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is a Live Scan?  Live Scan is an inkless, electronic means of capturing fingerprints in a digitized format and then transmitting them to a state Department of Justice and the FBI.  Fingerprints are then searched against a state DOJ history database and the FBI criminal database. 
  2. Where can a Live Scan be completed? Live Scans may be completed at most local law enforcement locations. Check this website for a list of locations.
  3. What must be covered in a Clergy Recommendation Form? Recommending clergy should indicate the details of your relationship, relevant church activities, and an explanation of the local discernment process.   
  4. How much is tuition? ACTS tuition for the year is $150.
  5. When are Applications due? Applications should be submitted by the end of July 31st.
  6. When do classes begin? Classes begin after Labor Day (first Monday in September)
